Laboratory of nuclear gamma-resonance spectroscopy

The initiator of promotion of the Mössbauer effect in Kazakhstan, Doctor of Physics and Math Sciences Abil Kuangalievich Zhetbaev, was appointed as the Head of the Laboratory. Mössbaur spectroscopy, which is the main research method in the laboratory, is used to fulfill the tasks of radiation materials science, as well as other tasks in solid state physics. The Laboratory implements four methodological approaches: Mössbauer spectroscopy in transmission geometry (MS), conversion electron Mössbauer spectroscopy (CEMS), emission Mössbauer spectroscopy (EMS), characteristic X-ray radiation (CXR). This makes it possible to study samples with virtually no restrictions on elemental composition and geometric dimensions (from massive to nanometer). The laboratory operates two modern Mössbauer spectrometers provided with cryogenic equipment (from 90 to 300 K) and mathematical programs that allow implementation of experiments and processing experimental data at a high level.
