On March 19, during a visit to the Russian Federation, the Director General of the Institute, Sayabek Sakhiyev, met with the Director General of LLC “Leader Consortium,” Vasily Konstantinov, from the “International Research Center MBIR” project. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the potential integration of the Institute of Nuclear Physics into the MBIR Consortium.
The agenda included: — Key directions of experimental work at the MBIR reactor and the benefits for Kazakhstani specialists participating in the project; — Collaboration on the production and distribution of radioisotope products; — Opportunities for expanding partnerships in various fields.
MBIR is a fourth-generation multipurpose research reactor based on fast neutrons. Once operational, it will become the most powerful fast-neutron research reactor in the world, featuring unique capabilities.
Kazakhstan was offered the opportunity to participate in the development of multilateral programs for joint scientific research using the MBIR reactor.
