On April 10-14, 2023 the Nuclear Security Training Centre of INP (NSTC) has conducted the training course “Fundamentals of Nuclear Material Accounting and Control” for specialists of uranium mining enterprisesAPPAK LLP, JV KATKO LLP, Khorasan-U LLP, JV SMCC LLP.
The purpose of the course is to train the specialists on the basic principles of establishment nuclear material accounting and control (NMAC)system, main elements of NMACandsystem management.During the training, issues of ensuring the nuclear security regime, the requirements of the Kazakhstan legal framework and the IAEA recommendations, the interaction of NMAC and physical protection systems were touched upon. The instructors have conducted theoretical, practical and demonstration classes, tour on theNSTC facilities and training ground. In addition, during the training course, a visit to the WWR-K research reactor was organized for the participants.US DoE rrepresentatives attended the Course as observers.
Following the results of the training 13Kazakhstan specialists responsible fornuclear material accounting and controlreceived certificates on the successful completion of the course.
