Scientists of the Institute participate in the DUNE collaboration meeting

From January 22 to 26 the next DUNE collaboration meeting will be held in CERN (Geneva). INP scientists are actively involved in discussions about the current state of affairs and collaboration plans for the implementation of an ambitious experiment. On the sidelines of the meeting, the Director General of the Institute Sayabek Sakhiev held a meeting with the co-heads of the collaboration Sergio Bertolucci (INFN) and Mary Bishai (BNL). During the meeting, the INP discussed further plans for the current year to create a site for the production of straw detectors for the DUNE experiment. The parties expressed satisfaction with the interaction and hope for further strengthening of scientific ties within the framework of the collaboration.

Earlier, at one of the workshops on one of the SAND (System for on-Axis Neutrino Detection) detector systems, of which the straw tracker will be a part, the head of the straw tracker project, Roberto Petty (University of South Carolina), reported on the work done and plans for 2024. In his report, he made a special emphasis on the fact that the INP is considered as the main center for the production of straw tubes and the assembly of tracker modules. During the discussion, the meeting participants particularly noted the pace of implementation of the project in the INP, which entered into collaboration in September 2023.
