Today the Institute held an all-Institute Scientific Seminar. This seminar was in a mixed format (offline/online), attended by the scientific staff of the INP, as well as JINR (Dubna, Russia).
At the seminar, presentations were made by the Senior Researchers of the Laboratory of High Energy Physics of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, Maria Patsyuk and Alexey Aparin. The specialists of JINR shared the results of the scientific team in the STAR and SRC experiments.
In the report, Alexey Aparin presented to the Institute’s specialists new results of the STAR experiment, one of two main experiments at the RHIC polarized proton and heavy ion collider, located at the Brookhaven National Laboratory (USA). He described the new experimental complex EIC, which provides new opportunities for precision research of nuclei and protons, and also ensures the development of new accelerator and detector technologies using big data analysis methods and modern approaches based on machine learning and artificial intelligence.
Patsyuk Maria made a presentation “SRC experiment on the Nuclotron target and the DIRC detector for identification of charged particles on the EIC.” She provided a detail description of the advanced technology in the field of PID and the evolution of DIRC detectors. She shared the scientific results of the team in the experiment.
