Radioactive Sources Security Inspection

On June 16-19, 2025, the Training Course Radioactive Source Security Inspector " was held at the Nuclear Security Training Center of the INP. The training was organized by the Office of Radiological Security of the National Nuclear Security Administration of the U.S. Department of Energy in cooperation with the Committee for Nuclear Supervision and Control of the Atomic Energy Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The goal of the Training Course was to improve the knowledge and skills in conducting inspections of personnel responsible for ensuring the security of radioactive sources at facilities.

The Course was intended for representatives of government agencies and nuclear industry enterprises of Kazakhstan. The training covered issues of standard inspection procedures, planning and preparation, methods, inspection techniques (drawing up an inspection plan, analyzing documentation, observation, survey, testing), drafting a final report and corrective actions. During the Course, US instructors conducted theoretical and practical classes on preparing, conducting an inspection, and preparing and presenting a final report based on the inspection results.

Following the results of the training, 15 Kazakhstan specialists –representatives of the CASC, UMP JSC, Ulba-TVS LLP, RSE at REM INP, RSE NNC RK received certificates on the successful completion of the Course.
