Within the framework of cooperation on strengthening nuclear security, the Nuclear Security Culture and Insider Threat Mitigation Training was held on June 28-30, 2022 at the Nuclear Security Training Center of the Institute of Nuclear Physics. The event was organized by the Committee for Atomic and Energy Supervision and Control of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in cooperation with the Office of International Nuclear Security of the National Nuclear Security Administration of the US Department of Energy.
The purpose of this seminar-technical exchange is to establish cooperation between stakeholders in the field of nuclear security in Kazakhstan, bringing together stakeholders, building capacity, and identifying strengths and possible gaps in the field of nuclear security.
Kazakhstan specialists of the Committee for Atomic and Energy Supervision and Control, National Guard, National Nuclear Center, Institute of Nuclear Physics, Ulba Metallurgical Plant, MAEK-Kazatomprom, Nuclear Technology Safety Center, responsible for the management and organization of nuclear security, took part in the technical exchange.
American representatives of the Office of International Nuclear Security of the US DoE, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory, and the Security Complex Y-12 participated in the seminar through the ZOOM information platform. A representative of the US Department of Energy Office, the US Embassy in Nur-Sultan, also attended the seminar.
