The meeting between INP and MEPhI: expanding cooperation in the field of personnel training for nuclear energy

On November 28, a delegation of the Institute headed by Director General Sayabek Sakhiyev, which also included Deputy Director General for Science Nurzhan Saduyev and Head of the Strategy and Sustainability Department Adilzhan Serikov, held a meeting with the leadership of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI in Moscow. The main subject of discussion was cooperation in the field of personnel training for nuclear power plants.

During negotiations, the Director General presented the Institute's existing and developing infrastructure, including the activities of training centers for nuclear security, radiation safety and non-destructive testing methods. He also reported on the completion of construction and the upcoming opening of a new modern dormitory, that will provide comfortable living conditions for future trainees and young specialists.

A special emphasis was placed on the Institute's zero—power reactor and low-power reactor, equipment recommended by the IAEA for training specialists in the field of nuclear energy.

In the context of the upcoming construction of Kazakhstan's first nuclear power plant by an international consortium led by Rosatom, and considering the results of the meeting between the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and MEPhI Rector Vladimir Shevchenko, the Parties agreed to discuss specific cooperation areas in detail over the coming weeks and prepare a memorandum of cooperation.
