An extended meeting of the Academic Council of the Institute of Nuclear Physics was held on December 25. The Agenda included the following key topics:
Deputy General Director for Science Nurzhan Saduyev presented the results of the 24th reporting scientific-technical conference, which was held from December 18 to 20, 2024. The conference demonstrated the results of the scientific-technical programs and projects completed during the year. In total, 51 reports were presented, including ten on the Targeted Funding Programs, 41 reports on Grant Funding, 4 reports within the framework of cooperation with the International Scientific and Technical Center, one Project through the IAEA, 2 Projects on radio-ecological research and 1 project presented by the Science Foundation. In addition, the conference included a report on the activities of the Aksai branch. Following the conference, the participants developed a number of recommendations for the further development of scientific activities.
Head of the Division of Strategic Development and International Cooperation Raushan Kabatayeva presented a detailed report on the works of the Department for 2024. She highlighted the key achievements, including the active interaction of the Institute of Nuclear Physics with the nuclear industry organizations in the United States, Japan and Europe in the areas of scientific cooperation, radiopharmaceuticals supply and personnel training. The Institute's participation in the projects implemented within the framework of the IAEA programs, international collaborations such as SHiP (CERN) and major international events, including the 68th IAEA General Conference, the Kazakhstan website event at the IAEA and the KazAtomExpo exhibition, etc. was also highlighted.
At the end of the conference Raushan Kabatayeva shared the plans for 2025, including upcoming visits of the Institute specialists and the progress of the international projects. The report emphasized the leading role of the INP in the international scientific arena and outlined the areas for further cooperation. At the meeting, the candidacy of the Head of the Laboratory of Nuclear Energy Safety Problems, PhD Asset Shaimerdenov, was proposed for the title of Associate Professor. The report was made by the Scientific Secretary Karlygash Munasbayeva. The decision to award the title of Associate Professor was unanimously approved.
