Prospects for cooperation with leading French nuclear industry organizations, as well as the development of Kazakh-French collaboration in the peaceful use of nuclear energy, scientific research, and personnel training, were discussed on June 9 during a working visit to France. Sayabek Sakhiyev, Director General of the Institute of Nuclear Physics, met with Gulsara Arystankulova, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to France.
During the meeting, the Director General briefed the Ambassador on the results of the French delegation's visit to the Institute in May of this year, during which two documents were signed.
The first is a Memorandum of Intent with the Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), which provides for the development of cooperation in neutron research, including Kazakhstan's participation in ILL activities and expanded access for domestic scientists to its research infrastructure.
The second is a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Institute for Nuclear Energy (I2EN), aimed at developing the industry's human capital through specialist training, experience exchange, and the implementation of advanced educational practices.
Gulsara Arystankulova emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation with French scientific and educational organizations as a key element in implementing the national nuclear program.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening their partnership and implementing joint initiatives in nuclear science and technology.
