From 11th to 16th June 2023, the 20th International Symposium on Packing and Transportation of Radioactive Materials "PATRAM 2022" was held in the city of Juan-les-Pins (France), which was organized by the World Nuclear Transport Institute (WNTI). General Director Sayabek Sakhiyev and Director of the Division of Nuclear and Radiation Safety Murat Tulegenov participated in the International Symposium on behalf of the INP. Murat Tulegenov, in his report "Operation of the New Repository at the INP of the RK for Disused Radioactive Sources," described the operation of the new repository at the INP, which stores sealed and disused sources of ionizing radiation (IRS). In his report, he noted that the commissioning of the new storage facility and its use is an important contribution to ensuring radiation safety in the Almaty region and in Kazakhstan as a whole. Murat Tulegenov also presented the step-by-step safe transportation of the IRP and the stages of work to remove gamma sources accumulated in the INP.
The PATRAM Symposia are the only international event dedicated to the exchange of information on the packaging and transport of radioactive materials.
