The Institute of Nuclear Physics confirmed its status as a leader in national science based on its publication activity in 2025. According to the international Web of Science database, the Institute ranked first among research institutes in Kazakhstan by number of scientific publications (179 articles) and fifth among all universities and research organizations in the country.
The quality of its publication activity is particularly indicative. 78.2% of the Institute's scientific papers were published in the journals in the first and second quartiles (Q1–Q2), which are considered among the most authoritative international scientific journals. This demonstrates the high level of its research and its compliance with the international scientific publication standards.
The structure of publications by quartile is as follows:
* Q1 — 60 publications (33.5%);
* Q2 — 80 publications (44.7%);
* Q3 — 16 publications (8.9%);
* Q4 — 22 publications (12.3%).
The high scientific quality of the Institute's research is confirmed not only by its selection of prestigious journals but also by its international influence. According to Web of Science, one of the Institute's publications was included in the top 1% of the most cited scientific papers worldwide, and another 12 publications were included in the top 10%. These results demonstrate the high demand for the Institute's research by the global scientific community and its significant contribution to the development of modern science.
In terms of the number of publications in first-quartile (Q1) journals, the Institute is also among the top five scientific organizations in Kazakhstan, with 60 publications, second only to the country's largest research universities: Nazarbayev University (555 publications), Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (411), L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University (174), and Satbayev University (120).
