Institute of Nuclear Physics of Kazakhstan expands interaction with the scientific centers in Europe

During a working visit to the Laue-Langevin Institute, a delegation headed by INP General Director Sayabek Sakhiyev participated in the III European User Meeting of ILL and the European Center for Neutron Research. This event brought together more than 300 leading experts and specialists in neutron science and allied disciplines to discuss the current state and prospects of ILL and ESS development.

As part of the visit, a meeting was held with ILL Director Ken Andersen to discuss the possibility of Kazakhstan’s participation by INP in ILL activities.

The experience of INP participation in the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) was presented as an example of successful international cooperation. The parties agreed to start developing a project for cooperation expansion.

Negotiations were also held with László Rosta, Scientific Director of the Budapest Neutron Center. Prospects for cooperation were discussed, including the establishment of a cold neutron source and a neutron activation analysis (PGNAA) facility at the WWR-K research reactor. Mr. László Rosta invited the INP delegation to visit BNC in March next year to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation.
