The Institute of Nuclear Physics Kazakhstan and the China Atomic Energy Institute signed a Memorandum

On September 26, during the 67th IAEA General Conference in Vienna, General Director of the Institute of Nuclear Physics Kazakhstan (INP) Sayabek Sakhiyev and President of the China Institute of Atomic Energy (CIEA) Xin Feng signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of peaceful use of atomic energy.

Within the framework of the Memorandum, INP and CIEA will cooperate in the following areas: neutron scattering instrumentation and applications, nuclear physics, operation and decommissioning of nuclear research facilities, accelerators and applications, organization of seminars, workshops and other meetings on specific topics and participation in these events.

The parties intend to maintain and strengthen their cooperation in nuclear energy, expand interaction to implement the perspective projects of mutual interest, and determine an action plan for the further development of partnership between INP and CIEA within the framework of long-term strategic relations between Kazakhstan and China.

The China Institute of Atomic Energy is the basis for development of nuclear science and technologies in China. A multidisciplinary research institute that specializes in nuclear physics and chemistry, radiochemistry, reactor engineering technologies, nuclear electronics, isotope technologies, radiation metrology and radiation safety. Currently, the Institute employs 3,000 staff, including 5 Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 140 Teachers - Doctors of Science and 180 Masters, about 1000 scientists and engineers.
