The Institute of Nuclear Physics is expanding its nuclear medicine capabilities: a new cyclotron has been acquired

As part of previously reached agreements to develop radiopharmaceutical production and strengthen nuclear medicine infrastructure, the Cyclone-18/9 cyclotron facility, previously stored at the Nuclear Technology Park (Kurchatov city), has been transferred to the Institute of Nuclear Physics with the assistance of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Atomic Energy.

The donated facility is the Institute's twelfth basic facility, which will allow INP to expand its scientific, technological, and production potential. The commissioning of Cyclone-18/9 will open up prospects for increased production volumes and the uninterrupted release of radiopharmaceuticals for oncological diagnostics.

Up to 150 additional patients per day will be able to undergo PET diagnostics, significantly increasing the availability of high-precision diagnostics for the population of Kazakhstan.

Today, the Institute of Nuclear Physics is one of the leading domestic manufacturers of diagnostic radiopharmaceuticals and the only manufacturer of therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals in Kazakhstan. By consistently increasing its production capacity and expanding its product range, the Institute is making a significant contribution to the development of nuclear medicine in the country.

There is also potential for exporting the Institute's radiopharmaceuticals to various countries in the CIS and Asia.
