The Institute of Nuclear Physics and Marubeni Utility Services Discuss New Directions for Cooperation

During the JINR Days in Astana, dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the branch, a working meeting was held between INP Director General Sayabek Sakhiyev and Marubeni Utility Services President Yutaka Makino, who arrived in Kazakhstan at the Institute's invitation.

The parties noted that INP and Marubeni Utility Services have successfully collaborated for over 15 years. While initially, the collaboration focused primarily on transportation and logistics, the partnership has now expanded to include the development of nuclear and fusion energy.

?During the meeting, the parties discussed the current status of their work and future plans, and expressed mutual interest in further developing existing partnership projects and expanding joint activities.

Last year, cooperation in advanced nuclear technologies reached a new practical level. During the official visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to Japan, a contract was signed between the Institute of Nuclear Physics and Marubeni Utility Services to conduct a feasibility study on the lifespan testing of high-temperature gas-cooled reactor fuel under transient conditions in the WWR-K research reactor.
