A delegation of the Institute, led by the Deputy General Director for Production, Yevgeniy Yermakov, visited the Tricastin production site of the Orano Company, one of the world leaders in the nuclear industry, in Pierrelatte (France).
As part of bilateral cooperation, starting from February of this year, the INP will begin supply of standard sources of Co-57 radioactive isotope to the laboratory. During a visit to the laboratory, the delegation from the INP was introduced to the technology for application of the supplied radioactive isotope Co-57. This radioisotope will be used to make a new type of source for PET scanners calibration. In case of high demand and successful sale of new calibration sources, Orano plans to increase the order volume for Co-57. In addition to visiting the standard sources laboratory, the INP delegation was given a tour to the new stable isotope laboratory and to the uranium enrichment plant.
The delegation also visited the laboratory of reference radioactive sources, the laboratory for stable isotopes production and the site of enriched uranium production for nuclear power plant fuel.
