INP expands scientific dialogue with a leading European synchrotron center

As part of the official visit of the Kazakhstani delegation to France, led by the Chairman of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Atomic Energy, Almassadam Satkaliyev, a delegation from the Institute of Nuclear Physics, headed by the Director General Professor Sayabek Sakhiyev, visited the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) in Grenoble city – one of the largest scientific facilities in the world, providing access to an ultraluminous X-ray source for fundamental and applied research.

Each year, around 10,000 scientists from more than 30 countries use the ESRF's facilities, enabling them to non-destructively study the structure of materials at the atomic level and observe fast processes in real time, which are crucial for the development of modern scientific and industrial technologies.

During the visit, ESRF Director General Jean Daillant gave a facility tour. The delegation saw state-of-the-art experimental stations: ID02, designed to study the formation of material structures over time, and ID31, which allows for the investigation of the internal structure of products, hidden interfaces, and layers, including materials processing.

The ESRF experimental facilities are used in key high-tech industries and are of interest to the development of the Institute of Nuclear Physics' research areas.
