The INP delegation visited the construction of theunique scientific complex SKIF.

SKIF is a high-tech scientific complex of the “Megasource”class with a Generation 4+ synchrotron and a 476-meter-long accelerator ring.

It will enable advanced research using synchrotron radiation beams. Due to itsunique characteristics, the new synchrotron will open up opportunities for advanced research using bright and powerful X-ray beams in a wide range of fields- from chemistry, physics and materials science to biology, geology and humane studies.

The Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics of theSiberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences is the sole contractor for the manufacture, assembly, delivery and commissioning of the complex equipmentof the accelerator facilities. Leading Russian scientific and educational organizations are also involved in the project, providing a comprehensiveapproach to its implementation.

The project has been underway since 2019, and the launch is scheduled for 2025. The commissioning of SKIF will be an importantevent for international scientific cooperation and a main mean for solving urgent tasks in the field of innovation and industry.
