A delegation from the Institute of Nuclear Physics and representatives from Ibaraki University, one of Japan's leading universities founded in 1949, discussed personnel training for the nuclear industry, developing advanced technologies, and creating new materials for nuclear and fusion energy.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for implementing joint research projects, as well as strengthening cooperation in the field of nuclear science and technology.
Particular attention was paid to the exchange of practical experience in training specialists to support the nuclear program. Japanese colleagues presented the results of their research on a new neutron multiplier material, while the INP delegation introduced their partners to their research and experimental facilities and reported on the beginning of the active development of Kazakhstan's nuclear program.
Following the negotiations, the parties:
— discussed the draft Memorandum of Understanding between Ibaraki University and the Institute of Nuclear Physics;
— reached an agreement to prepare a proposal for joint research;
— outlined a plan for joint activities for 2026–2029.
