INP and I2EN signed a Memorandum on Human Resources Training for the nuclear sector

On September 27, 2023, during the 67th General Conference of the IAEA in Vienna, the General Director of the Institute of Nuclear Physics Kazakhstan (hereinafter – INP KZ) Sayabek Sakhiyev and the Executive Director of the International Institute of Nuclear Energy (France) (hereinafter - I2EN) Ms. Karen Daifuku signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Institutes. In accordance with the signed Memorandum, INP KZ and I2EN intend to implement human resources training programs in the nuclear industry and joint research.

Within the framework of the Memorandum, INP KZ and I2EN will cooperate in the following areas:

—contribution to improving the system of higher and professional education in the field of nuclear energy in Kazakhstan;

— providing assistance to Kazakh and French universities and engineering schools offering diploma programs in English language; promote double diplomas and student exchange (bachelor's, master's and PhD levels);

— simplifying the access for Kazakh students and trainees to existing higher education programs in France in cooperation with other French educational institutions;

— implementation of joint research programs;

— organization of instructors training programs in France and/or Kazakhstan;

— organization of summer schools and scientific events such as conferences, symposiums and congresses on specific topics related to nuclear energy in Kazakhstan or France.

The International Institute of Nuclear Energy (I2EN) is a French government initiative aimed at uniting the leading universities and engineering schools to support France's partner countries in development of nuclear energy. The Institute's partners are the main research organizations and companies in the French nuclear energy sector. The Institute provides training for the nuclear industry around the world. Today I2EN has 52 members: 14 partners (government ministries and departments, industry and research) and 38 associate members (academics and associations).
