On March 27, as part of a working visit to Kazakhstan, a delegation of the European Organization for Nuclear Research CERN including the representatives of the Department of International Cooperation Christoph Schaefer and Tadeusz Kurtyka visited the Institute for discussing the potential areas of cooperation between the Institute of Nuclear Physics and CERN.
Having welcomed the delegation, the General Director of the Institute, Sayabek Sakhiyev, emphasized the importance of this meeting and expressed hope for further efficient cooperation. During the conversation, Professor Christopher Schaefer invited the Institute's scientists to take part in experiments and work jointly on the projects carried out in the European organization.
In turn, Tadeusz Kurtyka noted the possibility of cooperation between CERN and the Institute in the field of nuclear medicine. The professor expressed his gratitude for organization of the CERN school, which has continued its long-standing tradition since 2010, bringing together scientists and specialists from near and far abroad.
Let us recall that in June 2023, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed in Geneva between the INP, CERN and NA62 (CERN). Joining of the INP to the NA62 collaboration is a historical event for Kazakh science, since this is the first experiment at CERN Kazakhstan participates in.
