On February 4, 2025, the Institute of Nuclear Physics (INP) received a delegation from the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications (AUPET) named after Gumarbek Daukeev headed by Rector Gani Nygymetov.
During the visit, the scientific and production works of the Institute were presented to the representatives of AUPET. The excursion was organized for the guests, during which they visited the key facilities of INP.
During the meeting, Sayabek Sakhiyev, Director General of INP, gave a detailed information about the work of the Institute and emphasized its key role in the development of the nuclear industry of Kazakhstan. He noted that INP is the only scientific organization in the country that carries out a full cycle of research and development work in this field.
In addition, he emphasized the Institute's significant input in the training of personnel for the nuclear industry. The INP has a unique infrastructure, including a research reactor, a critical experimental facility, accelerators of various types, as well as three training centers supported by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The main theme of the meeting was the prospects for cooperation. The key areas:
Development of small module nuclear reactors, which may become an important part of Kazakhstan's energy infrastructure in the future.
Use of artificial intelligence in scientific research.
Training of personnel for the nuclear industry.
INP and AUPET expressed their intention to continue active cooperation by combining scientific research and engineering development to solve strategic tasks in the field of energy and high technologies.
