The First Annual Meeting of the Women in Nuclear Central Asian Network (WINCA) was held from 24 to 27 June 2025 in Larnaca, Cyprus. The meeting was organized by the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies of the Monterey Institute of International Studies with support from the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration’s (DOE/NNSA) International Nuclear Security Office and Los Alamos National Laboratory. The Network workshop was held at the Cyprus Center for Land, Open Sea, and Port Security (CYCLOPS).
The First Annual Meeting of WINCA was attended by representatives of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, as well as experts from the USA, Great Britain, Lebanon, IAEA, World Institute for Nuclear Security, ISTC (more than 30 participants). At the First Annual Meeting of WINCA the INP was represented by Natalya Izmailova, Head of the Nuclear Security Training Center.
The discussion covered the Network's work and achievements since its opening in 2023, its sustainable development strategy and promotion. Regional and international experts presented activities in the field of nuclear, radiation, nuclear security and related areas. Participants from Central Asia made presentations on key aspects of nuclear energy development, including recent regional achievements, future needs, and challenges facing new nuclear energy programs in the region. N. Izmailova, Head of the Nuclear Security Training Center, INP made the presentation on "Personnel Training in the Kazakhstan Nuclear Security Training Center".
Various training platforms for practical training available at the CYCLOPS Training Center, as well as a variety of mobile radiation detection equipment, were demonstrated last day of the First WINCA Annual Meeting.
