A delegation from the Institute of Nuclear Physics, led by its Director General, Sayabek Sakhiyev, participated in the extended collegium of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan.
On March 5, under the chairmanship of the First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Roman Sklyar, the Ministry of Energy held an extended meeting to review the ministry’s performance in 2023 and outline tasks for 2024.
In his speech, the Minister of Energy, Almassadam Satkaliyev, highlighted ongoing activities in key sectors such as nuclear, oil, and gas, all aimed at ensuring the country’s socio-economic stability.
The Minister noted that during the visit of the IAEA Director General to Kazakhstan, a country-specific framework program for cooperation for 2023-2028 was signed between the Ministry and the IAEA. Within this framework, the Institute of Nuclear Physics will produce and supply technetium-99 generators to Kyrgyzstan. These generators are used in nuclear medicine for diagnosing cancer and heart diseases.
It is worth noting that Kazakhstan has been cooperating with the IAEA since 1994, gaining access to advanced technological and research developments and strengthening its scientific and technical potential.
