Kazakhstan continues to strengthen its strategic partnership with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), developing the projects in the field of peaceful nuclear technology, science and education. An important role in this cooperation is played by the Institute of Nuclear Physics (INP), on the basis of which the key international initiatives are being implemented. As part of the Kazakhstan's interaction with the IAEA, the representatives of the Agency's Technical Cooperation Department - Ms. Yunlu Sibel and Ms. Aruna Korde visited the Institute of Nuclear Physics.
For many years, the INP has been actively involved in the implementation of the national, regional and international IAEA projects. The priority areas include: radiopharmaceuticals production, introduction of modern radiation technologies, development of nanotechnology, as well as training and advanced training of specialists in the field of nuclear technologies.
The IAEA delegation visited the Institute's facilities, including the WWR-K research nuclear reactor, production sites for radiopharmaceuticals, and a laboratory for development and production of Aqua Dress medical hydrogel dressings. Of great importance are the INP Training Centers for Radiation Safety and Non-Destructive Testing, created under support of the IAEA. Today, 10 international experts from the Agency also work at the Institute. The prospects for further cooperation were discussed during the meeting, including the programs for production and application of radiopharmaceuticals, safe operation, modernization, and conversion of research reactors.
Due to Kazakhstan’s effective cooperation with the IAEA, the Institute of Nuclear Physics continues to strengthen its position as a leading scientific and technological platform in the field of peaceful atomic energy.
