On June 15, Mr. Wang Hongzhi, the Director General of the National Energy Administration (NEA) of PRC, and Mr. Shen Yanfeng, Chairman of the Board of the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), visited the INP for a familiarization visit and to exchange experiences with the Institute of Nuclear Physics.
Chaired by Sayabek Sakhiyev, Director General of the INP, and with the participation of the Atomic Energy Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Kazakhstan Nuclear Power Plants, the parties held a Kickoff Meeting and visited the WWR-K research reactor, the experimental critical reactor facility, the Non-Destructive Testing Training Center, and the Center for Integrated Environmental Research.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current status of cooperation on the peaceful nuclear energy in the Republic of Kazakhstan and explored future prospects for joint research.
Following the talks, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening their partnership and expressed their readiness for effective cooperation in the peaceful nuclear energy, including the exchange of experience and knowledge in personnel training, the development of joint research projects in materials science, non-destructive testing, radiochemistry, and fundamental research.
