On June 24-28, 2024, the Training Course“Conducting Inspections of Physical Protection System” was held at the Nuclear Security Training Center (NSTC). The Course is organized in the framework of cooperation with the Threat Reduction Agency of the US Department of Defense (DTRA) under the Global Nuclear Security Program. The course was a “transition course”; materials developed by American instructors were transferred to the NSTC for revision and adaptation. This Course was conducted by Kazakhstan instructors only.
The purpose of the Course was to train Kazakhstan specialists in the skills of conducting control checks / inspections of physical protection systems. The Course included theoretical, practical, demonstration classes, as well as field exercises.
Based on the training results, 9 Kazakhstan specialists from CAESC, INP, NNC, UMP, Ulba-TVS, MAEC and National Guard, responsible for the physical protection of the nuclear facilities were presented certificates of successful completion of the Course. The final certificate presentation ceremony was held with the participation of INP Director General Mr. Sakhiyev S. and Director of the of DTRA Department at the US Embassy in Astana Mr. Kotov K.
