On April 19, the Almaty Half Marathon took place in Almaty, attracting over 10,000 participants. This is the ninth year the half marathon has been held. Nearly 900 runners from 44 countries came to Almaty, a record number of international participants in the half marathon's nine years.
The marathon brought together runners from across the globe: Asia, Europe, North and South America, Africa, and the Middle East. International participants included representatives from Russia (346), Kyrgyzstan (146), Uzbekistan (81), China (37), the United States (32), the United Kingdom (28), Ukraine (21), and Belarus (18).
Sergey Grekov represented the Nuclear Security Training Center of the Institute of Nuclear Physics. He ran 10 km in 41 minutes 54 seconds and took 6th place in the 50-59 age category.
We congratulate Sergey on his excellent result and wish him further improvement in future marathons.
